Apple No Longer The Most Valuable Company!

Apple down after no iPhone 5 News http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Investors did not like the Tim Cook style and no iPhone 5 even less. So the stocks were down and with after hours trading standing at Exxon at the top with Market Cap of 354.11B versus Apple's Market Cap standing at 345.34B.
So Apple is not the most valuable company in the world. It looks Tim Cook is not Steve Jobs (Duh), and lacks the spark. Perhaps he should have named iPhone 4S, iPhone .5, that is 0.5.

Pre Release iPhone 5 Love, Where is it? Not In The Markets!

iPhone 5 http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
With ever increasing Android phones, looking and doing better or equal to what iPhone does, there are so much that iPhone 5 can bring us.
Just without thinking much deeper, two enhancements that iPhone 5 could bring are NFC and a Front facing camera. But those to have existed on Android phones for ages. So only thing Apple could do is to make enhancements like those two more sexier. But how sexier could NFC on iPhone be? Front facing camera, that can certainly be done by not doing what Apple did with iPad 2
Yes I halted a purchase of a new phone in anticipation of iPhone 5 but if Apple cannot show that it is worth my money, I would turn to an Android phone in a blink. Perhaps I might even think of an iPhone 4, or iPhone 4S that is circulating around rumor mills.
It seems it is not only me but investors too have changed their tunes towards iPhone launch. According to WSJ, the traders are not making money in the pre release market of iPhone 5 like they did in the previous iPhone releases;

Money is Usually Made Leading Up to iPhone Event but Not in 2011. WithApple set to announce the iPhone 5 this Tuesday (October 4), we analyzed the stock price performance around prior iPhone launches.
Looking overApple's stock price performance surrounding the past four iPhone launches, the real money was made leading up to the iPhone event. In each of the pastfour years, Apple stock has always moved higher in the two weeks prior to theiPhone event, however, this year appears to be the exception with an 8%decline in Apple's stock price (vs. down 6% for S&P 500) registered ahead ofthe October 4 event.

How Apple is doing in the market (Also you will notice everybody else is also in the same boat.)

Does BlackBerry (RIM) Needs A Reboot To Avoid "RIM RIP"?

BlackBerry RIM  Reboot http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
I came across this fine article on Deccan Herald about RIM need to reboot itself to avoid RIM RIP. We all have seen where the Smartphone Market Share is going. Big players like NOKIA and RIM took places behind new stars Google Android and Apple iPhone. The article discusses the success of Google Android platform and Apple iPhone against Blackberry phones.
Deccan Herald is a newspaper in India, where Nokia and Blackberry dominates the cell phone market. Perhaps those rumors of low cost iPhone coupled with popular Android phones with low price points might change all that soon.
Still you can see the Blackberry affinity in the article and it might reflect the thoughts of general public. It praises BlackBerry 9900 and at the same time scolds RIM for not giving NFC or such things as front facing camera, which are standard parts of most Android phones and is expected with iPhone 5.
I guess RIM got to listen to it's customers and avoid RIM RIP and keep the competition up against the Android, Apple and Nokia (Nokia needs some waking up too!)

MobileMe, iCloud Back in Action After Widespread Outage!

MobileMe Outage http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Yesterday Apple's MobileMe had a day in the cloud, or more like a day in a cloud burst. According to MacRumors report filed earlier yesterday indicates that the outage has affected as much as 75% of the MobileMe users.
Comments left by MacRumors users indicated that the outage (as high as 75% of users) was also affecting the iCloud and other related services.
Apple is in the works transitioning from MobileMe to iCloud service and this could indicate that The iCloud service is more than a name change and some hardcore changes are taking place. Apple will officially announce iCloud service in October 4th, most probably with iPhone 5 announcement.
The MobileMe service will continue to be available to users until June 30 2012.

Let' Talk iPhone, Apple's iPhone 5 Invitation.

Let' Talk iPhone 5 http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Apple sent out invitations today for the much awaited iPhone 5 event on October 4th. The event will be held at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California.
Most people wondered about the venue because usual place for Apple releases, Moscone Center in San Francisco has been booked by Oracle for it's annual gala, and those who knows the Apple campus know that the auditorium is too small for a such event as iPhone 5 release.
So now all the rumors could be laid to rest and wait for the iPhone 5. Wait, there might yet be rumors about the actual shelf date and of course how it looks like. Speech Recognition is one such rumor alive as of today!

Drive This Car Up The Wall With Your iPhone

iOS controlled Car http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
If you ever dreamed driving like Batman, up the wall, now you can, at least a small model car. iHelicopters have introduced the IW500, a two tone (Blue / Silver or Red / Silver) iPhone Controlled Wall Climbing Car / RC racing car. By applying vacuum seals to defy the gravity, car is able to climb up the wall and even traverse the ceiling, if you managed to get it on the ceiling.

The iPhone Controlled Wall Climbing Car iW500 is a RC Car that climbs walls and drives on ceilings. It works by using the opposite principle of the hovercraft and creates a sealed vacuum between itself and the wall or ceiling. This allows the car to do amazing stunts. Just flip the switch, place the car on a wall, and you can drive up, down, left and right without falling off. You can even drive on the underside of tables and ceilings if the surface is smooth enough.

Just set the car switch to vacuum off, and it becomes a remote controlled racing car. Now, I wonder if it will work on my iPhone 5, that I might be getting on October 4th!

Sprint's iPhone 5 Will Have Unlimited Data!

Sprint's iPhone 5 http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
According to a report on Bloomberg, Spring may have a leg up on both AT&T and Verizon when the Apple's latest smartphone, iPhone 5 comes to the market, Sprint's unlimited data plan!
Currently Sprint is the only US carrier to provide non capped, non throttled unlimited data plans in the US mobile market. Most iPhone users (and other smart phone users) were taken aback by initial AT&T' declaration of the end of AT&T's Unlimited data plan and the subsequent Verizon's follow up with no unlimited data on Verizon's network.
I still have an unlimited data plan with At&T and with new improvements to it's network in the bay area, I am concidering staying with AT&T but without extending my contract. I might buy an iPhone 5 when it comes out (if I am not tempted by Nexus Prime or an Atrix :) but if AT&T touches my unlimited plan, I will be leaving AT&T like a bat out of hell, straight in to Sprint's arms.
Even though Sprint charges $99.99 for it's unlimited plan, it will still be cheaper for active and bigger users of smartphones, like me.
One of the people who I spoke recently mentioned that his limit on AT&T reached after using his iPhone as a GPS during a recent trip!. One thing we use our phones is the GPS capabilities, to find restaurants, spa's, specialist stores or just a way to beat traffic. So people who are signing up for new accounts need to take their data usages in to accounts and Sprint's Unlimited data seem very attractive.
Hopefully Sprint knows that too and will use it for it's advantage and over come the 15 quarter losing streak.

Apple Employee Loses Another Unreleased iPhone (iPhone 5 ?) Yawn!

iPhone 5 Prototype Lost and Not Found? http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/

Apple seem to have some employees that can't hold a simple tequila shot. One such employee has lost another phone (May be one of those LTE iPhones that were being tested every where) in San Francisco this time, at Cava 22, a place we too have visited a few times. But this lost iPhone, unlike the last iPhone prototype lost, Steve Jobs and Co basically got no where with their electronic tracking. Basically they tracked to wrong place, meaning GPS or location based not working right or the guy who got the phone was wiser.

CNet tell that is might have been sold on Craigslist for as low as $200 but how they arrive at that figure is not very clear. What is clear is that Apple did go to the place where the phone was supposed to be but was not able to find it. Yeah what ever;

"Apple electronically traced the phone to a two-floor, single-family home in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood, according to the source.

When San Francisco police and Apple's investigators visited the house, they spoke with a man in his twenties who acknowledged being at Cava 22 on the night the device went missing. But he denied knowing anything about the phone. The man gave police permission to search the house, and they found nothing, the source said. Before leaving the house, the Apple employees offered the man money for the phone no questions asked, the source said, adding that the man continued to deny he had knowledge of the phone."

Under a California law dating back to 1872, any person who finds lost property and knows who the owner is likely to be--but "appropriates such property to his own use"--is guilty of theft. In addition, a second state law says any person who knowingly receives property that has been obtained illegally can be imprisoned for up to one year.

Samsung Galaxy S II Coming To AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile But To Verizon.

Samsung Galaxy S II Coming To AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/

After all the Apple trouble unloaded on Samsung in EU, Samsung seem to make it a big bang in state side with the newly minted, iPhone 4, iPhone 5 rival, Samsung Galaxy S II, san the Steve Jobs hype.

The phone it self is a marvel if people understood the technology as well as they do the hype coming from Apple quarters.

Samsung will introduce its Galaxy S II smartphone next week, well ahead of the iPhone five so cutting in to at least some of it's sales. Samsung is also covering all the major carriers in the United States, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. Verizon wireless has confirmed that they are not getting at the moment. Perhaps due to what it signed up with Apple for iPhone.

The Galaxy S II sports a lot of new and newer technology one would expect to see on a phone. For instance;

The 4.3" SUPER AMOLED Plus display goes a step beyond the already remarkable SUPER AMOLED to provide enhanced readability, a slimmer design, and better battery consumption for the best viewing value of any smartphone.

Dual Core Application Processor Clocking at lightening speeds the unrivaled performance of the Dual Core Application Processor provides unsurpassed functionality and density for faster browsing, quicker multi-tasking, a smoother UI, snappier streaming and highly efficient gaming. With encoding/decoding ability that supports video play and recording, makes it no.1 among dual cores.

8.49mm Slim Design Taking slim to the next dimension. The Samsung GALAXY S II rides the leading edge with an ultra-slim 8.49mm form factor, a luxurious design and an easy grip. The ultra-slim smartphone also boasts 3D TouchWiz UX adds to the evolutionary experience with a futuristic user interface.

Gorilla Glass covering the front of the phone is remarkable because I already have a Gorilla galss clad device, EEE Pad Transformer, and I love it.

You can find more information on the Samsung Galaxy S II at it's own dedicated site.

iPhone 5 Clone Perfected?

iPhone 5 Clone http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/

Chinese ingenuity at work! The clone workforce in china has already perfected a iPhone 5 clone based on those designs (case) floating all over the net. So Steve Jobs, who are you going to sue next? Now that your company is the most valuable company in the world, you can really say mine is bigger than yours, unlike in the Apple vs Samsung case, Samsung Galaxy Tab is bigger and longer than iPad.
